Client services
We specialise in building portfolios of principally unquoted equities that have the potential for significant capital gain, usually over the medium to long term. These portfolios all utilise the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS). a scheme which provides very attractive tax breaks for individual or corporate investors.
We cater for active investors (termed advisory clients) as well as passive investors (discretionary clients). The former make their own investment decisions based on recommendations we make. The latter is a fully managed service that tends to suit investors who have limited time at their disposal or who are not confident in making their own investment decisions in what is a specialist field. Charges for both services are similar. Shares can be held either in the name of the individual client or in the name of our nominee company.
Clients usually invest directly in the underlying entity although we do offer collective investments via special purpose vehicles (SPV) such as the Alpha EIS Fund or previously the SMART Equity Scheme.
New clients have the ability to invest in our existing portfolio companies thereby giving them access to a portfolio that is diversified in terms of stage and sector. If a client wishes to dispose of an investment that is privately held (as opposed to being quoted on a public market) we will act as an informal market maker.
